Board Treasurer (Volunteer)

We are a 100% volunteer-based patient organization with the mission of improving the quality of life for people living with migraine in Canada. We support over 3,000 Canadians through education, support and advocacy.

While migraine is often dismissed and diminished as a headache, in fact it is a serious neurological disease that is often completely debilitating. To put this into perspective, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified severe migraine attacks “as among the most disabling illnesses, comparable to dementia, quadriplegia and active psychosis (Shapiro & Goadsby, Cephalalgia, 2007).” Furthermore, the WHO classified severe, continuous migraine as more disabling than blindness, paraplegia, angina, or rheumatoid arthritis. (Harwood, Sayer, & Hirschfield., Bulletin of the World Health Organization, April 2004).

Chronic migraine is even more disabling as it involves experiencing a migraine attack 15 days per month, and 85% of people living with chronic migraine are women! This removes women from the workforce at the peak of their careers, affects their choices in family planning, and completely diminishes their quality of life.

We are looking for someone who would be interested in volunteering about 5–10 hours a month to be our Board Treasurer. We would like to register as an NFP or a social enterprise are in need of someone with NFP experience.
