You are:

A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with a strong understanding of not-for-profit financial management financial management. Experienced in not-for-profit governance level reporting and compliance requirements. Skilled in financial planning, analysis, and implementing internal controls to support organizational goals. Adept at contributing to a positive workplace culture and aligning financial practices with organizational values. A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working across diverse teams and stakeholder groups. Role Overview

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be more than a numbers expert—you’ll be a trusted advisor, problem solver, and strategic partner. Your work will help shape the financial sustainability of Today’s Family, ensuring that we continue to expand our programs, support our educators, and provide high-quality childcare for families who need it most.

Responsibilities

Strategic and Financial Leadership

Collaborate with the Director of Finance and senior staff to develop and implement financial strategies and budgets aligned with organizational priorities. Provide insights, analysis, and financial reporting to support informed decision-making at the Board, committee, and senior leadership levels. Monitor financial trends, risks, and opportunities, ensuring alignment with the agency’s strategic goals. Lead efforts to streamline accounting processes and enhance internal controls for compliance and efficiency. Operational Planning and Oversight

Partner with the Director of Finance to prepare the annual budget and financial forecasts to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors. Oversee the preparation of accurate, timely financial reports, including variance analyses and compliance with GAAP and other applicable standards. Support year-end audits by working closely with auditors to finalize audit processes and address any recommendations. Ensure timely and accurate government reporting and compliance with funding agreements. Provide financial oversight and analysis to evaluate the feasibility of new programs and growth opportunities. People and Culture

 

Promote a culture of respect, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging within the organization. Support and collaborate with the Director of Finance and other team members to achieve shared goals. Foster teamwork and knowledge-sharing across departments to enhance financial literacy and accountability. Community and Stakeholder Relations

Build and maintain strong relationships with government funders, financial partners, and other stakeholders. Act as a financial liaison, ensuring transparent communication with stakeholders regarding funding and financial health. You bring the following Qualifications

CPA designation required, with proven experience in financial leadership within the not-for-profit sector. Comprehensive knowledge of not-for-profit accounting standards, governance reporting, and funding compliance. Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and internal controls. Strong understanding of GAAP, government reporting requirements, and audit processes. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership, staff, and external stakeholders. Working at Today’s Family
