Novatech, a mid-sized engineering consulting company with approximately 125 employees, is seeking a Financial Controller with a CPA designation. We are looking for a hands-on individual to manage our organization’s accounting, financial reporting systems and lead our accounting team.
The candidate must possess strong numerical and financial planning skills to help guide the organization’s goals of continuing positive revenue and income growth, while maintaining the appropriate financial controls.

What You’ll Do
Leadership
• Provide strategic advice that aligns with company’s long-term financial goals and objectives
• Effectively communicate financial information and to support informed decision-making
• Lead and oversee the accounting team, ensuring accurate reporting
Responsibilities
• Monitor and report on project revenue and utilization
• Analyze financial data and report on period end financial information
• Manage the collection of accounts receivable and associated client communication
• Oversee accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll functions and employee benefits/compensation programs
• Monitor work in progress (WIP) time and ensure unbilled time represents a valid asset
• Coordinate the annual accounting review process
• Complete all required tax reporting
• Manage time-based accounting systems/software and enhancements to applications
• Manage accounting staff, including coaching, evaluating performance and fostering a collaborative environment
Skills & Experience You’ll Need
• 10+ years of accounting experience, ideally within or closely related to a small business project orientated environment
• Extensive experience with time billing accounting, project accounting, and payroll processes
• Exceptional analytical and report writing skills
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
• Adept at integrating and coordinating multiple deliverables
• Strong strategic thinking, time management, organization and delegation abilities
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Commitment to excellence and producing high-quality work with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Demonstrated leadership skills in managing and mentoring the accounting team
Education and Accreditation Require
• College diploma or university degree in Accounting or equivalent
• CPA designation
• Membership with Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) or comparable equivalent
