CPA Ontario is currently in search of a Director, Financial Planning and Analysis who will work in partnership with executives, operational leaders and finance business partners to support quarterly reporting, forecast and business planning while leading the FP&A team. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious and excellent at establishing strong relationships across the organization. This position also requires an independent thinker that takes initiative to challenge the status quo in a respectful way, make recommendations and seek ways to continuously improve processes.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

Partnering with internal stakeholders and developing multi-dimensional reporting frameworks that support decision making.

Creating the annual business plan and updated forecasts in collaboration with senior management and preparing executive level reports including monthly, quarterly and annual financial results, forecasts and budgets for the Executive Team and Council (Board). 

Performing a key role in overall financial data strategy governance and alignment with internal stakeholders on consistency and accuracy and will also be a key member of the operating team focused on strategic initiatives and ensuring resource availability. 

Supporting and oversight for financial analysis and related visualization through use of Power BI. 

Providing guidance, mentoring and coaching to the finance team and business unit leaders to support the business with insightful analysis, a solutions orientation and business partnering approach. 

Developing and communicating the annual business planning calendar including budgeting, forecasting and initiative planning. 

Participating in special projects requiring financial analysis to support operational decision making. 

 

Who You Are:

A post-secondary graduate preferably in finance, accounting or business with a minimum 10 years of progressive experience and a completed CPA designation. Prior experience working for a not-for-profit organization would be an asset as would an MBA or CFA.

Highly analytical with significant experience analyzing and summarizing large amounts of data with ability to identify and provide insight into key issues. 

A supportive and hands-on leader with 4 or more years of people leadership experience, building high performing teams in a highly collaborative cross-functional environment.

An excellent communicator (verbal and written) with strong presentation, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.    

Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and experienced with advanced Excel functions and formulas; experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools considered an asset. 

An expert at building detailed financial models and creating compelling executive style presentations coupled with the ability to articulate financial concepts to executive teams and stakeholders.
