CPA Ontario is seeking a Director, Standards, Guidance and Research who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of accounting standards and regulations. In this position, you will develop and update essential guidance materials while staying informed on the latest assurance and accounting standards that impact the profession. You will lead comprehensive research initiatives on emerging trends and provide expert interpretations to support members and internal stakeholders. Your collaboration with standards-setting bodies will help influence new standards and solutions to complex accounting issues.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

Conducting research on emerging accounting and assurance issues to inform members and provide guidance on complex challenges as part of the Standards and Research function.

Leading the creation and revision of guidance materials while offering clear interpretations of accounting and assurance standards.

Engaging with CPAs and regulatory bodies to gather insights and representing CPA Ontario in various forums. 

Developing and delivering training programs and educational content to enhance members' understanding of professional standards. 

Managing and mentoring the Professional Advisory Services team to foster collaboration and drive excellence.

 

Who You Are:

A post-secondary graduate with a CPA designation and a minimum of 8 years of experience in audit or standards-setting, with a minimum of 4 years at a Senior Manager level.

An expert in developing guidance materials and best practices, with experience in preparing live and pre-recorded webinars and events.

A strong collaborator, skilled in influencing policy development and building relationships with standards-setting bodies.

A proven team leader with experience managing teams and conducting training sessions, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

An effective communicator with proficiency in research tools and adaptability to new technologies, including AI.
