Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex, disadvantaged individuals in Ontario, and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province. 

 

The Assistant Vice President of Corporate Services and Deputy CFO is currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for financial leadership to various stakeholders, reporting and controllership, including preparation of various external reports. 

Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strategic and Organizational development:

  • Provides guidance and support on capital structure and investment decisions including participation in board committees, and working with external advisors

Reporting & Controllership:

  • Provides leadership and direction to ensure the development of relevant financial information and timely financial budgeting, planning and reporting for senior management, board committees, and key stakeholders of the organization.
  • Supports the development and implementation of corporate goals, strategic plans, programs and policies which are reflected in the Finance objectives, policies and programs
  • Plays a key role in finance strategic projects as assigned and supports the AVP & Deputy CFO in hospital-wide objectives.
  • Develops, coordinates and leads implementation of the hospital’s annual operating and capital budget preparation activities, including leading capital working committee.
  • Provides key support & subject matter expertise to large-scale strategic and capital projects.
  • Prepares and presents complex financial/statistical reports as required
  • Leads the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual audited financial statements
  • Assists in compiling data and interpreting reporting requirements and regulations
  • Analyzes fiscal impacts associated with all compensation, collective agreements and/or staff scheduling changes under construction
  • Investigates monthly financial and statistical variances to budgets and consults with SLT, Directors and Managers to determine any corrective actions requirement
  • Maintains communication with internal and external clients regarding financial matters, acting as fiscal advisor when necessary 

 Consulting:

  • Act as a consultant in gathering, analyzing and reporting of integrated statistical, clinical and financial data elements to determine hospital-wide and program/department trends and needs and make recommendations

 

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  •   Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business, commerce or accounting A designation held in good standing with the Canadian Professional Accountants association.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles that guide accounting including Public Sector Financial Board (PSAB) standards; Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Acceptable Auditing Standards (GAAS) and other legislative requirements.
  • Advanced understanding of financial and statistical analysis techniques
  • Research, retrieval and organizational skills
  • Analytical skills to distill large quantities of fiscal and statistical data Innovation and problem-solving abilities in order to resolve complex information management issues
  • Presentation, communication and business writing skills Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation), and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
