Senior Staff Accountant
Position Posting: Senior Staff Accountant- Simcoe
Full-time, Permanent
Millards is currently seeking a motivated Senior Staff Accountant with accounting experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide accounting and assurance services to our clients, be adaptable to the multiple requirements of the role, work within a confidential environment, be flexible, reliable and be able to communicate with clients on regular basis.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Involvement in the preparation and or completion of working papers, financial statements, and tax returns according to Firm and regulatory standards for clients in a variety of businesses. Coordination, and follow-up with the appropriate government agencies as required, of tax assignments including preparation of tax returns (T1, T2s, T4s, T5s, HST), and coordination with the tax department to ensure queries are cleared and deadlines are met. Ensuring that all significant engagement matters are documented and brought to the attention of the Partner, as well as keeping them informed of the progress of the engagement.
Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge
Post secondary education in accounting. Public accounting experience in Canada is required. Chartered Professional Accountant Designation Knowledge of basic to intermediate tax principles is required. Previous experience with accounting programs including Caseware, Caseview. Experience with Sage (Simply Accounting) and Quickbooks is a definite asset. Solid knowledge and understanding of required government taxes (payroll, consumer, and other business) Ability to demonstrate sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters. Ability to adapt quickly to changes and propose solutions as needed. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Good oral and written communication skills. The flexibility to work additional hours.
