The Director, Risk is CCC’s Chief Risk Officer and reports to the Vice-President, Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  They are responsible for directing the Corporation’s Enterprise Risk Management Program. The incumbent provides assurance to the Corporation’s senior executives and the Board of Directors regarding the management of risk, strategy and organizational performance.

This is a key leadership role supporting CCC in the delivery of its mandate to facilitate opportunities for Canadian exporters in a Government-to-Government model while promoting and protecting its reputation and effectiveness through the continued development of critical risk programs in collaboration with other business stakeholders.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provides expert advisory services in the area of risk to the Executive team and Board of Directors for purposes of strategic decision-making, and to business units for implementation of risk management principles into operations.
  • Oversees all aspects of the Corporation’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework including development, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Oversees various levels of risk analysis intended to identify, quantify, prioritize and mitigate risks for effective mitigation and recommend strategies to senior management and the operational units on international and domestic contracting activities.
  • Supports the Corporation’s Pursuit Team approach to business development through leadership and team engagement.
  • Supports the Corporation’s Integrity Compliance and Human Rights assessment approaches through leadership and team engagement.
  • Maintains and administers the components of the mandated departmental security plan and produces incident and annual security reports to meet obligations under the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat security directive 
  • Oversees the development, monitoring and updating of the Corporation’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP), and the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) to ensure the safety of individuals and the protection of key assets immediately following a disaster, catastrophe, pandemic or other major interruption.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, Commerce or related field.
  • Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA).
  • Professional risk management or financial analyst designation is a strong asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management and risk programs.
  • Minimum 10 years leadership and management experience, preferably in an international business environment.
  • Knowledge of legislation, regulations, central agency policies and procedures governing financial administration affecting bidding, contracting and tendering processes; and requirements for risk management for Crown Corporations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; experience presenting to and working with boards and senior committees.
  • English Essential, proficiency in both official languages is highly desirable. Experience supporting an independent Board of Directors and Board Committees.
  • Have demonstrated ability to use knowledge of internal and external influences to ensure robust risk management in a responsive and agile environment.
  • Are a strong leader with a proven track record.
  • Ability to plan, monitor, control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources, to achieve project objectives.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence across all levels of the organization
