The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides Corporate, Government and Institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital, and grow and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centres around the world. How You’ll Succeed

Research - You will work closely with the Research Analyst covering Industrials sector, which involves industry and company analysis. The Associates will learn and develop a depth of knowledge about financial analysis, covered industries and capital markets. In the role, they will build financial models and forecasts as well as harness a variety data sets to support investment recommendations and valuation analysis. Youwill gain valuable experience in writing detailed research reports and presentations to provide actionable insights to support investment decision-making for internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, will have a strong attention to detail, and will be very excel-proficient and financial-statement-literate.

Client Focus - In cooperation with the Research Analysts you will participate in regular calls with public companies to get direct data from the senior management teams, as well as ad hoc calls, meetings and industry events. The position also provides the opportunity to liaise with our Sales, Trading, Investment Banking colleagues and clients as required.
Who You Are

You have an Undergraduate degree in Finance or business-related discipline. Please include a writing sample along with your cover letter, resume and transcripts (if a recent graduate). Preference is given to candidates who possess an MBA, CFA, CPA and candidates who possess data analysis/compilation and programming skills would be an asset.

You can demonstrate applicable industry experience. Experience conducting financial analysis of companies and economics. Previous capital markets experience is highly preferred. Work experience or background in a variety of industries (e.g. Energy, Industrials etc.) is an asset. A strong background in accounting and finance is a preference.

You are technically savvy. Excellent knowledge of PC applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote). Experience in Python is an asset.

You're motivated by collective success. Ability to explain detailed financial and statistical analysis. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with internal and external clients.
