For the first 30 months, the Associate will be on a rotational program that will enable them to fulfill the CPA experience requirements while being mentored by senior leaders and provide exposure to genuine challenges and innovative solutions.
Purpose of Role:
The purpose of this role is to support the development, maintenance and application of an organized program of business performance analysis, business planning, internal managerial reporting, treasury management and risk register management.
Role Accountabilities:
- Monthly management report preparation including variance analysis, consolidation, narratives and data quality inspection
- Participate in monthly/quarterly forecasting including input assumption analysis, sensitivity analysis and reporting
- Support the annual business planning cycle including integration with financial systems, consolidation, analysis vs actual and forecast, variance analysis, input assumption analysis and presentation reporting
- Support the update of the short and long range planning models, support the update of valuation models, models for tax planning and analysis,
- Perform oversight controls for revenue including the monitoring of weights & assays and valuation of receivables and other MD&A analysis
- Perform as requested analysis of capital projects for approval purposes including assessment of sensitivities and cost of capital, where applicable
- Prepare monthly treasury report and cash analysis
- Support the preparation of components of the quarterly risk management register
- Support the ongoing analysis of mitigating activities and assessment of levels of risk for formal senior management and board reporting
- Assist in insurance renewals (application forms, contract signoff checklist, invoice payments and allocations by operations)
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a professional area (i.e. Accounting or Finance)
- Must be a CPA student, who is registered and has passed the CFE
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in accounting and/or finance and/or internal audit, experience with the creation of auditable working papers in a Corporate office environment
- Professional designations such as CIA, CPA or other relevant credentials completed or in progress
- Prior experience in the execution of the SOX program or accountancy is an asset.
- Prior experience with multinational, multi-location companies with a decentralized management structure (preferred)
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Quick to learn and adopt new technology, has advanced strong analytical skills.
- Experience balancing a number of competing priorities and deadlines.
Travel:
Expected to travel to all Hudbay locations. Travel will vary depending on initiatives and projects and, assuming no travel restrictions, the percentage can range from a minimum of 15% to 25% per year.
Working Arrangements:
Role is eligible flexible work arrangements, allowing you to balance 50% of your time in the office with 50% time working remotely.
