CPA Ontario is currently in search of a Staff Accountant that plays a pivotal role in supporting the Finance team by managing day-to-day accounting tasks and financial reporting.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Driving accuracy by leveraging advanced accounting skills to prepare and enter month-end journal entries and support schedules, while taking ownership of revenue recognition through detailed entry preparation and monthly validation with business units.
Overseeing payroll accounting and reconciliation, by working closely with human resources to resolve variances. Analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts to ensure the accuracy of monthly financial statements and addressing outstanding items.
Managing fixed asset accounting and sub-ledger to ensure accurate asset recording, while handling HST returns, government filings, and related tasks.
Performing bank reconciliations, managing investment files, and processing entries.
Participating in projects, including performing UAT and reconciliations.
Who You Are:
A post-secondary graduate with a degree or diploma in Accounting with (or actively working towards) a CPA designation.
An experienced Staff Accountant with a minimum of 3 years progressive work experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment supporting multi-disciplinary teams and employees at all levels.
A skilled professional with a high degree of sensitivity and professionalism with respect to the management of confidential information.
Experienced with accounting systems and database applications such as Microsoft Dynamic Great Plains. Salesforce experience is an asset.
Digitally fluent in advanced Excel skills, Microsoft Word and Teams.
A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Extremely organized with outstanding time management, attention to accuracy and detail, and a demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure environment with competing deadlines.
Flexible and available to work outside of standard business hours during peak periods.
