What we are looking for
The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing our accounting operations. This position offers significant growth potential and requires a professional who is not only adept at handling complex financial tasks but also passionate about using technology and implementing systems to improve efficiency. This role includes supervising and coaching one direct report, requiring strong leadership and mentoring skills. Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting function for this sector, including reviewing accounts payable/receivable, third-party reports, royalty and license fee calculations, general ledger, and bank reconciliations. Prepare and analyze financial statements for both Canadian and U.S. operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. Lead the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and technology to streamline processes and improve accuracy. Ensure compliance with CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) & IRS (Internal Revenue Service) regulations, including the preparation and filing of necessary reports and commodity tax returns. Understand the payroll process, payroll regulations, and related rules in both Canada and the U.S. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business growth and provide financial insights for decision-making. Prepare monthly financial reports and analysis for management and other stakeholders and provide monthly report packages to the Corporate FP&A team for consolidation. Monitor and manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting activities for this sector, with support from the Corporate FP&A team. Support the year-end process, working closely with external accountants for income tax filing and tax planning. Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring the company’s practices remain compliant. Must be enrolled and actively working towards a CPA designation. A CPA designation is preferred. Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively. Proven ability to implement and optimize accounting systems and technology. Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
