Job Description:
Retail Advice and Solutions is a division of Sun Life Canada. At Sun Life Canada we’re a top provider of life, health
and wealth products in the Canadian marketplace.
This role will be directly engaged in our most complex insurance and wealth opportunities working with members of
our team, as well as Advisors and Clients. The problems are likely to be tax or legal planning problems the Client has,
where they are either looking for someone to review the planning they have already done, or where they are looking
for other potential approaches. This role would offer potential solutions that Client could consider.
This role would influence the review of these cases by the underwriting team, as they consider the overall need of
the Client.
What will you do?
- Promote and deliver effective advanced tax, legal, estate and financial planning expertise and advice to the sales and advisor teams,
- Participation in joint field work with advisors working with clients and their own allied professional (accountants and lawyers) to identify potential tax planning opportunities related to their estate planning, wealth planning and business succession and continuation planning
- Actively participates in and resolves cases identified and advanced from Advisors, applying expertise in devising sound client solutions, working directly with Advisors as needed - including case research and direct client interaction.
- Builds Advisor capability through seminars/workshops on advanced financial planning topics,
- Delivers and promotes sales tools that support Sun Life Financial’s products, proprietary financial planning concepts, and specialty needs analyses, including legal and compliance issues,
- Delivers client seminars and associated materials,
- Keeps current through research and participation in industry profile building activities,
- Participate as an active member of the Financial Planning Centre of Expertise, sharing knowledge and insight with others, and contributing to the ongoing development of effective processes and tools.
- Driving large/complex insurance case business – shared with Insurance Sales Directors and Business Growth teams.
- Technical content and education in Sun Life – shared with the other Business Growth departments, Insurance Distribution, and the Insurance Tax Solutions team
What do you need to succeed?
- Strong knowledge of personal and corporate financial planning, including taxation, Compensation Arrangements, charitable wills and trusts, and the dynamics of business and succession planning,
- Excellent understanding of industry trends and their implication on achieving business objectives,
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, including facilitation, training, influencing, presentation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- CPA, LL.B, M. Tax or FCIA designation
- CFP, CLU, FEA or TEP is an asset
- University degree or equivalent business experience
- 5 years financial services experience

*NOTE* : This role includes an incentive plan and total compensation could exceed the salary range posted.
Salary Range: 105,000/105 000 - 175,000/175 000
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work
location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees
participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company
performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
