CONTROLLER - MANUFACTURING 

The  Controller is a crucial hands-on leadership role with the primary responsibility to deliver accurate and timely consolidated and legal entity financial statements. Strong attention to detail, delivery dates, and the ability to consistently provide quality outputs consistent with accounting standards and external and internal Financial Reporting requirements are key components of this role.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is responsible for leading all aspects of accounting, reporting and compliance. The Controller works cross functionally with Finance and Business teams to produce month-end financial statements accurately and on time, is responsible for financial systems and general internal controls, and creates / monitors policies and procedures for compliance, recommending and implementing improvements as the business requires.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Full GL closing cycle, leading the monthly and year-end financial statement close process as well as entity consolidation; Preparation and review of income statements and balance sheets for multiple legal entities; Review of all staff balance sheet reconciliations and account coding to GL accounts; GST / HST return preparation and submission Review Government payments - Source Deductions, HST, WSIB Payroll and Corporate Tax Installments; Manage daily banking; Improve, implement and manage financial controls to maximize accounting accuracy and efficiency; Manage the year-end audit within the time frame and budget; Inventory validation and valuation; Work with General Counsel ensuring that all Insurance and other compliance is up to date; Any other tasks called upon by Management to perform in this role. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Designation CA, CPA, CMA, CGA; Post-secondary education in Accounting/Finance; Minimum 5 years’ experience as a controller or assistant controller in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of working with inventory management; Excellent understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices; Organized thinker and detail oriented, with the ability to effectively multi-task and juggle multiple projects; Excellent working knowledge of ERP system functionalities, particularly with Net Suite would be ideal; Advanced Knowledge of Excel is a must; Excellent writing and communication skills; In office 5 days a week
