ABOUT CENTRAL TORONTO YOUTH SERVICES

Central Toronto Youth Services (CTYS) is an award winning non-for-profit community-based accredited Children’s Mental Health organization that serves Toronto’s most vulnerable youth ages 13- 17 and young adults ages 18 -24 and their families across Toronto. As part of the community since 1973, CTYS provides equitable evidence-informed mental health services to youth and young adults, their families and greater community including R.I.T.E.S., Day Programs, Pride and Prejudice Programs, Youth Justice and Family Outreach Programs, Community and School Outreach Programs, Early Intervention Programs, and Transitional Aged Youth Programs.

CTYS is primarily funded by the Government of Ontario via the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health.

POSITION SUMMARY

CTYS is looking for a dynamic and engaging person to lead the finance, administration, payroll and human resources team. This role will be responsible for all aspects of finance and operations, including financial reporting and analysis, internal controls and auditing, compiling semi-annual reports to the Ministry funders, and preparation, submission and monitoring of the annual budget.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Finance and Administration will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day finance and administrative services operations and have expertise in all aspects of leading projects and processes in finance, administration, payroll and human resources. The role will be responsible for strategic improvement initiatives and supervision of finance, administration, payroll and human resources staff and will ensure that CTYS policies, practices, and procedures are responsive and proactive in nature to the organization’s, ministries, and legislative mandates. The role will also be responsible for reporting monthly financial statements, and commentary, to the Finance and Audit Committee, along with other matters during the year.

WE ARE SEEKING TO MEET CANDIDATES WHO HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE

Minimum three (3) years experience working in a not-for-profit, government-funded organization in a finance management or executive leadership role, with responsibility for people management   Several years of experience with labour and employee relations, or relevant working experience in a unionized environment

EDUCATION / PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or Business Administration or a related field
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required

SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with funding applications/compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of government and funder agency structures, procedures and reporting
  • Expert knowledge of financial planning, financial management and accounting/ financial reporting systems and procedures to manage the agency’s fiscal and business affairs
  • Excellent planning and administration skills to effectively manage diverse and specialized support services for the agency
  • Expert knowledge of accounting and payroll software with experience in SAGE and Ceridian or ADP
  • Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills to participate in the development of strategic and operational plans and policy recommendations
  • Superior communication skills including the ability to succinctly convey complex ideas to create clarity with diverse audiences with varying levels of issue expertise and understanding
  • Experience with payroll processing and financial reporting
  • Experience to represent the agency with external contacts and to provide advisory services to the Executive Director, Board of Directors and committees of the Board
  • Ability to provide sage advice to directors and managers in the preparation and monitoring of operational budgets
  • Strong people management with experience in building, motivating, mentoring and coaching a diverse high-performing team
  • Highly effective decision-making skills, adaptive and flexible with strong financial and operational capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a respectful and aware manner with groups from diverse background and experiences
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Experience developing and managing budgets and preparing business plans
  • Highly developed technical and analytical skills with ability to use expert level judgment for strategic thinking and problem solving

COMPENSATION

CTYS offers competitive compensation ($88,000 – $106,000), plus employer paid group health benefits, vacation, personal leave days, educational leave days, employer paid RRSP contributions, etc.
