Job Description – Senior Private Client Wealth Advisor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build caring client relationships by providing valued advice across a broad range of financial topics.
  • Establish and nurture new client relationships through networking, referrals, and ongoing dialogue.
  • Understand and consistently apply Coleford’s Conservative, Consistent and Committed long-term investment philosophy.

Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Continually engage with clients to develop a clear understanding and appreciation of their objectives, build trust and strengthen relationships.
  • Translate client objectives into strategic financial plans linked to portfolio structure.
  • Prepare and deliver, on a regular basis, customized progress report presentations to clients to update them on the achievement of their strategic financial plans. 
  • Engage in business development activities to identify and attract potential clients.
  • Care for our work closely by collaborating with our client service and investment teams to coordinate the management and delivery of comprehensive plans to achieve client financial well-being.
  • Where applicable, collaborate with the investment team to create communications to address client specific questions.
  • Lead educational sessions for clients and prospects on financial planning and investment management.

Experience/Skills/Knowledge/Attributes

  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining client relationships:
      • 10+ years of leading client relationships (Private Client)
      • 15+ years of professional experience
      • Registered advising representative
    • Recognized leader in building community engagement while demonstrating commitment to social responsibility.
    • Understanding financial planning concepts and experience linking them to managing client portfolios.
    • Experience working with small business owners, entrepreneurs
    • Hosting/organizing events, writing informative/thought provoking client-oriented communications.
  • Skills/Knowledge
    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications beneficial.
      • University degree (any discipline)
      • Post graduate degree (nice but not required)
      • Preference given to those with one or more professional designations including CFP, CIM, CPA and/or CFA
    • Strong communicator, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in an understandable manner.
    • Working knowledge of investing and related concepts.
  • Attributes
    • Integrity (will choose the right path even if it’s the difficult one).
    • Works well in small teams with the ability to collaborate to assist clients.
    • Fluent in more than one language is beneficial.

Work Environment

  • Flexibility to engage clients in a location or format convenient to them inside or outside Coleford’s Toronto office or via the Internet.
  • Coleford’s remote office environment requires team members to work seamlessly and effectively with each other and clients outside the office and switch between in-person and remote work environments as required.
