About the role

Join the Corporate Services team where our partners view CMHC as the catalyst for solving housing affordability challenges. With a holistic view of the commercial business financial results and business objectives, the Senior Manager acts as a strategic partner to the Leadership team of the Commercial Solutions sector.  In this role, you will be leading a team of financial experts and business partners, providing expert advise and insight regarding all financial matters of the Commercial Solutions sector.  The Senior Manager ensures that stakeholders have the appropriate financial information and knowledge to meet their business objectives and that all financial decisions and reporting are made in the best interest of the organization. 
 

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborates with leadership the Commercial Solutions Sector leadership to define their Finance needs and agree on the delivery mechanism; develops and leads an integrated financial plan (transversal view) that is cascaded to the commercial finance division.
  • Presents financial results to the sector leadership team cover the full spectrum of financial management including, but not limited to the Corporate Plan, Quarterly Reporting, forecasting, operational expenses.
  • Oversees the commercial business financial planning and reporting activities including quarterly & annual financial reporting to OSFI, financial statement notes and management discussion & analysis, sector initiatives and projects, forecasting and the Corporate Plan; ensures complete and up-to-date documentation is maintained and controls are identified, executed, and functioning to address identified risks.
  • Apply an understanding of business results and delivery of reports containing in-depth analysis which provides meaningful insight into the underlying drivers of the results of the organization, including benchmark comparisons.
  • Oversees/provides the requisite finance decision support on all major decisions in the sector.
  • Collaborates across the finance team and the Corporation to deliver fully integrated solutions to the Commercial Solutions Sector and to support internal corporate processes and reporting.
  • Align people, work, and systems to achieve program and policy efficiencies and results.
  • Role models behaviour in accordance with CMHC leadership values.

 

What you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, or a related field.
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant work experience in fields such financial reporting, forecasting and/or business partnering in an insurance context.
  • A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience.
  • A demonstrated ability to formulate effective strategies consistent with business and competitive strategies; ability to examine policy issues and strategic planning with a medium to long-term perspective to determine objectives, set priorities and anticipate potential threats and opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and intuitive skills; ability to reason logically, recognize assumptions, evaluate strengths and weaknesses of proposals and recognize the impact of specific courses of action. Ability to synthesize complex policy/financial/functional problems.
  • Strong oral and written communication, negotiation and influencing skills in both English and French.
  • Sound ability to manage conflict constructively and build morale, set high standards, provide constructive feedback and lead individuals in the completion of critical objectives.


It would be great if you also had:

  • An MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
