IMA offers a unique process where precision tooling is combined with metal alloys and is used to join multiple components into a ready-to-use assembly with a single operation.   • 40 multi-slide proprietary zinc die casting machines ranging from 12 to 21 tons
  • Five multi-slide proprietary zinc die casting machines ranging from 70 to 200 tons
  • Injected Metal Assembly (IMA) up to one ton
  • Precision tool building with in-house capabilities
  • Design, prototyping, and modeling services
  • Wide range of finishing surfaces available including tumbling, polishing, shot blasting and thermal de-burring
  • Offers cosmetic or protective coating equipment either through certified suppliers or in-house
  • Wide range of secondary operations including CNC machining, tapping, reaming, and drilling

Position Summary

The Finance Manager is a broad role encompassing accounting, financial reporting, costing, budgeting, and providing value added analysis and counsel to the General Manager of the plant and the cross-functional management team. This role is viewed as a true business partner and leadership position within the plant. The incumbent will be responsible for variance analysis (both actual versus budget and actual versus standard costing), proactive operating cash flow management, capital expenditures, coordination with other plants around the North America region and most importantly - driving EBITDA improvement through guidance provided to the General Manager and the management team.

The Finance Manager’s involvement in process, policies and procedures development on the manufacturing floor will drive continuous improvement and support the dynamic growth environment. This role is looked at as a point of leadership within the plant and the Finance Manager must be a problem solver. The Finance Manager works in close collaboration with the General Manager and the senior site leadership team on all aspects of commercial management and enhancement with drive and ambition for growth within the plant. In addition to supporting the General Manager and senior site leadership, the Finance Manager is the main point of contact to the parent company for items relating to accounting, finance, budgeting, and internal controls.

Key Job Functions

  • Manage, administer and control "costing" relating to the production of product and consumption of labour, materials, subcontract and overhead expenses in the manufacturing environment;
  • Initiate, develop, and prepare monthly reporting which analysis and explains the results of production benchmarks, variances and results to plan (budget), prior year and other current objectives;
  • Proactive weekly monitoring of performance metrics to gauge performance for the month (sales shipped, sales to ship, scrap, labor, estimated EBITDA, operating cash flow;
  • Provide leadership with respect to manufacturing reporting systems & KPI's;
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of financial and manufacturing plans to support corporate strategies;
  • Ensure that all appropriate functional areas are integrated into the production planning and budgeting process;
  • Calculate/prepare FX hedging and transactions;
  • Manage AR/AP employees and cash reporting for the Company;
  • Capital expenditure management through robust justification analysis, challenging the operations team to leverage continuous improvement and lean concepts to replace capital expenditure and monitoring of spend versus budget;
  • Manage the planning and budgeting process which consists of monthly budgeted balance sheet, profit and loss statement and supplemental information;
  • Initiate, administer and control the activities of new system implementations as they relate to the production and manufacturing environments;
  • Manage and control the completion of accurate and timely reports and summaries relating to inventory reconciliations and valuation of inventories;
  • Manage the development and maintenance of manufacturing financial policies, systems and practices which provide financial information that has integrity, is timely and meaningful and supports management's strategic initiatives;
  • Ensure consistency and control of labour and overhead rates;
  • Lead, complete and execute special projects, as required;
  • Investigate and respond to inquiries from all levels of management (including manufacturing, research and development, advanced manufacturing, sales and human resources);
  • Establish and maintain a strong interpersonal working relationship with all levels of management and plant personnel;
  • Manage the completion of timely and accurate reporting in respect of profitability measurements, under (over) liquidation and labour reporting. Ensure the integrity of sales, cost of sales, inventory sales and other accruals and profit measurement;
  • Manage the completion of efficiency and utilization reporting (by process, cost centre, machine or product line), and variances which may include purchase price, volume, rate, mix, etc.;
  • Supervise other non-financial administrative functions within the plant, including IT and Purchasing;
  • Manage external, internal, and tax audits, as well as the relationships with the respective audit teams;
  • Adherence to Company 5S Standards and involvement in continuous improvement initiatives; and
  • Ensure conformity to IATF Standards.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education

  • A professional accounting designation;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance;
  • 8-10+ years progressive accounting and finance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of costing methods, direct plant floor working knowledge with a hands-on mindset, extensive experience with labour reporting, automated data collection, MRP, inventory control, reporting, and valuation
  • Computer skills include advanced Excel, Power Point and ERP Systems
  • Excellent communication skills that include oral presentation skills and report writing skills, to effectively communicate goals and intentions with a sense of urgency;
  • Business acumen and a broad understanding of business practices, with an audit mindset;
  • Ability to understand and reconcile different viewpoints (more than numbers position);
  • Ability to form strong working relationships with cross-functional managers to leverage as part of a high-performance problem-solving culture;
  • Leadership qualities that establish credibility, inspiring the team, with a high level of EQ; and
  • Familiarity with grants and government funding.
