We are constantly seeking new ways to transform ourselves and our role in disinfection, and are currently on the lookout for a Director, Finance that shares our passion for safety, sustainability, biosecurity, infection control, and education.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the incumbent will contribute to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks for the organization and support the executive leadership team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best decisions for the company. The Director, Finance is also responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the accounting department.
A day in the life of the Director, Finance will include:
- Interface with all departments of the organization to ensure that Finance’s strategic plans align, integrate with, and fulfill company goals and objectives.
- Oversee the development and implementation of financial strategies for creating and improving processes and procedures, to improve company performance.
- Manage, motivate and mentor Finance and Business Intelligence staff.
- Ensure all Financial services policies and practices are in compliance with applicable legislation and follow best practices.
- Keep the Leadership Team apprised of Finance and Business Intelligence changes in practices and procedures.
- Keep the COO apprised of Finance’s progress on objectives and initiatives.
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure company adherence to annual budgets.
- Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that organizational risks are minimized.
- Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Withholding Payments (CPP, EI), Income Tax, Harmonized Services Tax, Employer Health Tax, WSIB
- Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control.
- Provide oversight in the collections of accounts receivable and liaise with internal stakeholders for support if necessary.
- Provide insight into the status of customers’ receivable balances relative to established credit limits.
- Liaise with internal teams to coordinate the release of customer orders.
- Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and inventory.
- Provide oversight in weekly payments to vendors.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation.
- Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate.
- Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure progress is being made and corrective action is taken if needed.
- Facilitate the resolution of issues and/or challenges.
- Other duties and responsibilities, as required.
What you need to succeed:
- A university degree in Business or Finance, plus a CPA designation are required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment and a minimum of 5 years experience leading a finance team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage fiscal responsibility, business finance (including creating and managing budgets), capital funding, expenditures, contracts, and partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability to manage Tax Planning, Treasury, Working Capital Management and Cash Generation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change in a growth-oriented environment.
- Ability to manage risks.
- Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
- High level of integrity, ethics, confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, and accountability.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships.
