THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the SVP, Operations & CFO, the Executive Director, Finance & Operations is an integral member of the KHP leadership team. The Executive Director will be responsible for directing and executing various financial management functions within the organization. This includes treasury, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis. As well this role oversees the payroll department and general facilities. The Executive Director will drive the adoption of data analytics tools and techniques to enhance financial forecasting, risk management, and decision-making processes. The Executive Director will provide strong leadership to the team, ensuring the organization has proper processes and controls, and systems in place to manage financial risk and to support the strategic direction of KHP.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads financial and capital planning functions to support business decisions and the allocation of resources, goods and services that support the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • Direct cash management, treasury, budgeting, latest estimate forecasts, audit, accounting and long-range forecasting activities for the organization.
  • Drive the adoption of data analytics tools and techniques to enhance financial forecasting, risk management, and decision-making processes.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends in finance, recommending innovative solutions to improve financial operations.
  • Incorporating data analytics insights in forecasting to enhance accuracy and reliability.
  • Managing all financial data including grant and project tracking for accurate accounting and reporting.
  • Oversee our investment portfolio.
  • Oversee and assist with the preparation of internal and external financial reports including consolidated financial statements.
  • Providing management and project leads with financial information vital to decision making and stewardship reporting.
  • Responsible for the development, deployment and maintenance of financial reporting tools.
  • Oversee the development, deployment and maintenance of accounting policies.
  • Oversee the corporation’s monthly, quarterly and year-end close.
  • Collaborates with leaders across the organization to develop budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Supports strategic initiatives through the provision of financial modeling and analysis.
  • Oversee the external audit.
  • Oversees the annual compliance reporting for the Imagine Canada Standards Program.
  • Provides oversight and quality assurance to the payroll function.
  • Together with the CFO, Identifies potential risks and develops effective strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Together with the CFO provide support to the Finance & Risk Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee facilities management.
  • Oversee talent management activities including all direct hires, develop and support Finance & Operations leaders, managers and staff to enable a high performing, client centered professional services team.
  • Fosters inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility within the portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Post secondary education in finance, accounting, business administration or other related studies Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required. Seven to ten years of relevant experience with at least five years in the not-for-profit sector in a senior financial role.
  • Experience in data visualization and analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI
  • Continuous learning mindset, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in data analytics, AI and insights.
  • Experience with fund accounting, deferred revenue and tax receipting.
  • Proven success in leading transformational change through the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial management strategy in a complex, multi stakeholder, multi entity organization.
  • Experience overseeing facilities management with an organization is an asset
  • Strong communication, technology, analytical and management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong managerial and leadership abilities. Ability to establish positive partnerships and facilitate organizational change.
