WHO IS GEMCAST?

Gemcast Inc. is a Canadian owned manufacturer incorporated in 1998. We are preparing to join the Multi-National Team at Allied Minerals based in Columbus Ohio. It is a very exciting time.

We develop custom solutions for the Refractory Industry. We have a Make-to-Order and Engineered-to-Order Job Shop (MTO) (ETO) and a Batch Processing facility. We also perform offsite Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) of industrial Heat Treat facilities.

We sell globally and operate in a multi-currency environment. Our payroll is processed by Ceridian. Our Time & Attendance software is Enterprise Time. Our current accounting software is Adagio. Which is a modular batch processing system run on our in house servers. However, we will be transitioning to SAP HANA by 2027 to meet the requirements of our new parent company. We use RBC Express for all of our banking needs. Our sales for 2023 exceeded 11 million and we have been profitable every year since 1998.

THE JOB : FINANCE MANAGER

We are a small office staff of 11 individuals with an additional 22 shop employees. Due to the transition in ownership and the future SAP HANA migration this job requires management presence in the office Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. 

We offer a competitive starting salary of 110,000 per year based on experience, generous benefits with Manulife, first year 3 weeks vacation, plus we always close for the Christmas week and pay our employees for that week. We also offer an annual bonus and paid sick days.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Thorough understanding of "full cycle" accounting including month & year end closing procedures, currency revaluations, forecasting and budgeting, and standard costing for inventory.
  • Prepare monthly government filings for WSIB and HST.
  • Prepare salary and wage payrolls, T4's and ROE's using Ceridian. Prepare commission reports.
  • Maintain, review and reconcile USD and CAD bank accounts. Trade USD to CAD. Monitor currency exchange rates. Create and release outgoing wire transfers.
  • Process and code employee expense reports. Review and approve all new vendor requests. Verify and approve supplier invoice coding.
  • Supervise A/P and A/R personnel. Review A/P and A/R ageing reports. Approve A/P payments. 
  • Prepare Capital Expenditure templates for submission to Head Office.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting. 

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • CPA, CGA
  • We are seeking a conscientious mature individual to oversee 5 direct reports.
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat. 
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookup etc.)
  • Prior experience with Ceridian, Adagio, PayDirt, or SAP an asset.
  • Prior experience in any manufacturing, including food, paint, plastic, concrete, and steel is an asset. 
  • Prior experience with SRED data collection and reporting an asset.
