About the Staff Accountant’s role
We are looking for a permanent full-time results-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This individual will have a broad scope of knowledge and work focused on making an impact. They will enjoy collaborating in a team environment, dealing with clients, and providing a comprehensive range of accounting and financial services to meet or exceed expectations.
Who you are:
- CPA with a minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in public practice
- Working knowledge of ITA rules applicable to individuals and corporations
- Proficient with Caseware, Profile, QuickBooks, Excel
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong client service skills with the ability to build rapport, connect to client’s needs, and maintain business relationships
- Dedication and motivation to achieve a high standard of client service orientation and professionalism
- Detail-oriented and meticulous
- Ability to work both independently within a team environment
What you’ll do:
- Prepare personal, corporate, trust, and estate tax returns
- Draw up working paper files for compilations, reviews, and audits
- Prepare financial statements for various purposes such as accounting engagements, submission of tax returns, and loans
- Meet with clients to discuss their requirements and conduct information gathering to complete engagements
- Analyze financial and tax data to provide the best result for clients in areas of tax minimization or deferral, review of financial results to determine reasons for profit or loss, preparation of tax forecasts, and assist with personal financial planning issues
- Meet with clients to discuss completed engagement results, and discuss and implement suggestions and solutions
- Engage with various government agencies to provide information or resolve issues
- Research tax laws, related literature and interpretations, and various government legislation and regulations to obtain the best solutions for client needs
- Provide suggestions and feedback regarding procedures and processes within the firm
- Participate in setting company goals and priorities
