We have an exciting opportunity for a Controller to join our Finance Team. Reporting to the VP, Finance you will oversee the accounting and financial systems, manage the annual budgeting and financial reporting processes and provide leadership in the areas of financial risk management, cashflow management, and cost accounting.
As Controller, you will contribute to improvement of our internal systems and processes to maintain high controls and improve decision making supporting tools. This is a hybrid work model working from home and at the offices (Etobicoke)
Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Lead the monthly and annual close process, overseeing the preparation of monthly financial statements, financial reporting packages, cash flow forecasts, and other management reports. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions reflected in the financial statements.

Budgeting: Prepare budgets and quarterly projection updates, collaborating with managers to gather input for the annual budget. Monitor actual performance against budget and communicate significant variances to management.

Internal Controls: Ensure the integrity of financial controls and recommend enhancements to the organization's financial policies. Establish, implement, manage, and monitor critical accounting and internal control policies, financial reporting, and associated metrics.

Department Management: Inspire, coach, and mentor Finance Department members. Actively participate in Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings, providing financial insights, support, and guidance to budget managers in other departments.

Accounts Payable: Oversee and support day-to-day accounts payable processes, coordinating with procurement and business units to ensure accurate and timely processing of payables for month-end cycles.

Audit: Manage the relationship with external auditors to facilitate the completion of audit procedures in a timely and efficient manner.

Tax Compliance: Oversee tax filing processes to ensure compliance with corporate tax, HST, and other government reconciliation and remittances (Excise Tax and Provincial Beer Tax).

Systems: Assist in the implementation of a new ERP and Accounting System, ensuring proper functioning, accurate costing, and data integrity.

Special Assignments: Undertake special assignments and fulfill other duties as required by the senior management team.
Skills and Experience:

A university degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline

A professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)

5+ years of experience supporting full-cycle accounting operations in a medium-sized organization.

High level of critical and logical thinking and reasoning to identify underlying principles and facts.

Strong result focused, able to use initiative and get the tasks completed.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.

Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate and work in fast-paced team.
