Overview
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for performing all corporate finance and accounting duties, including the completion of all internal and external financial reports, the coordination of the year-end audit process, and the development of new financial reports in the accounting system, ensuring constant adherence to internal financial controls and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the successful administration of all corporate Finance and Accounting related resources, contracts, tools and supplies to ensure all Centurion Asset Management Inc. | Centurion Property Associates Inc. real property assets are effectively and efficiently maintained to established standards and within established budgets.
Responsibilities
Relationship Development
Develop and foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure proactive timely resolution of all co-worker inquiries.
Financial Reporting
Assist in the preparation of the consolidation entries and design consolidation working papers. Assist in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and notes to the financial statements to ensure compliance with IFRS. Prepare external financial reports to the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation and Lenders. Assist in the quarterly portfolio valuation process. Assist in the month end close including data uploads for third party administered properties, account analysis, financial statement preparation, variance and corporate reporting and analysis.
Financial Management
Maintain an effective banking system, monitoring cash flow movement, completing regular cash flow forecasting and initiating the transfer of funds. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants, coordinating mortgage/debt funding and discharge. Assist with the successful financing of new acquisitions by arranging closing funds and refinancing existing debt obligations. Assist fund administration, processing monthly cash distributions and redemptions, reconciling units, funds, and distribution amounts with accounting records, and assisting with the monthly NAV calculation. Complete corporate accounting duties, maintaining accounting records of asset management entities. Maintain regulatory reporting for the asset management entity.
Compliance and Audit
Maintain relationships with auditors and represent Centurion as a point of contact for any audits of Centurion related vehicles and other accounting related matters. Maintain established audit systems and procedures, preparing audit working papers and schedules accurately and resolving any audit issues efficiently to ensure minimized audit costs to the extent possible.
Requirements
- A passion for excellence in customer service delivery;
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Accounting;
- A qualifying CA designation is required;
- 3 to 5 years’ of audit advisory, external reporting and/or corporate finance experience
- Extensive knowledge of IFRS is required;
- Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written skills;
- Ability to foster and cultivate business opportunities and partnerships;
- Real Estate industry experience is an asset; and
- Experience with Yardi property management systems an asset.
