Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the Executive Officer (EO) role provides strategic direction and operational oversight of non-academic services within York University Libraires (YUL). The role focuses on financial management, planning and budgeting for the Libraires across three campuses, and provides direction and oversight to the York University Library management team on human resources activities, academic resource planning, strategic planning, policy development, facilities management, and special projects. The role identifies, researches, and develops strategies to meet present and future needs that strategically aligns with YUL and University's objectives. Working closely with the Dean and Associate Deans, the role is a member of the senior leadership team collaboratively working toward advancement of the YUL's priorities and strategic direction and assists in the advancement of organizational renewal and continuous improvement in a team-based environment. Additionally, the role aids the Dean in the implementation, assessment, and advancement of YUL's mission, position and prominence in the Post-Secondary Educational sector, University, and broader community. The role functions as the primary conduit to the University's administrative functions, ensuring effective service coordination and local implementation of institutional policies and practices and is responsible for linking administrative functions to YUL's core business within the context of institutional strategic priorities.

 

 

 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

 

 

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelors degree in relevant discipline. Master's degree in a relevant discipline, such as MBA, Master's in Library or Information Science/Studies is preferred. Professional credentials, such as CPA, CA, or PMP would be an asset.

 

 

Experience:

 

  • 7 years of senior managerial and project management experience in an educational or comparable institutional environment required. 5 years of management experience. Experience in managing financial, human, and physical resources, including analysis, modelling, and reporting and organizational design. Experience leading a team in an environment of change and managing staff in a unionized environment is also required. Experience dealing with crisis communications and issues management is an asset.
