If so, consider this exciting opportunity to join the Ontario Internal Audit Division (OIAD) as an Audit Director.
The OIAD's vision is to be a trusted advisor and leader in public sector internal auditing. Its mission is to provide independent and value-added internal audit services that support the delivery of excellence to Ontarians.
OIAD supports the organization to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
This competition will be used to fill three Audit Director roles within the Division:
- One permanent position for the Health Audit Branch, located at 5700 Yonge Street, Toronto One temporary position (12 months, with possibility of extension) for the Central Services Audit Branch, located at 777 Bay Street, Toronto One temporary position (12 months, with possibility of extension) for the Resources Audit Branch, located at 40 St Clair Ave W, Toronto

What can I expect to do in this role?
Reporting to the Chief Internal Auditor, you will:
• Provide leadership and direction to internal audit managers and professionals accountable for OPS-wide and ministry-specific audit services.
• Lead enterprise-wide and ministry-specific internal audit strategies that provide value-added advice and recommendations to ensure significant risks are addressed and to make a positive impact on improving client business services.
• Leverage and monitor performance measures to evaluate audit performance.
• Establish goals and priorities which reflect ministry and government priorities.
• Recruit, develop and mentor top-tier audit staff and managers.
• Partner with senior management within the division on strategic planning initiatives.
• Brief senior executives such as Deputy Ministers, Assistant Deputy Ministers and Chief Administrative Officers and provide advice, recommendations, and solutions related to audit strategies, plans, and issues.
• Provide leadership to support Sector Audit Committees, including reporting outcomes from assurance and advisory work.

Job Specific
• You have a wide breadth and depth of experience leading professional internal audits and have a track record of delivering results.
• You possess an excellent grasp of business and fraud risks.
• You have sound knowledge of risk management principles and methodologies for assessing internal control and business risk exposures to determine the need for appropriate audit coverage.
• You have in-depth knowledge of generally accepted internal audit standards, current and upcoming internal audit methodologies, technological tools, and best practices.
• You have knowledge of accounting, budgeting, technology and human resource management.
Communication and Stakeholder Management
• You have demonstrated experience managing expectations and effectively communicating high-profile issues and matters with senior leaders.
• You have experience briefing senior executives, including providing advice, recommendations, and solutions.
• You are a strategic and influential speaker who has experience leading complex and contentious consultations with diverse clients, including senior leaders such as Deputy Ministers.
• You have demonstrated results working across divisions/departments, and external organizations to build critical relationships.
