This is an 18-month contract covering a maternity leave, starting in mid-October 2023. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, analyzing financial data, providing ongoing support to various departments and assisting with budgeting and periodic internal and external reporting.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct monthly financial reporting functions, including preparing account reconciliations, postings, account analyses, invoicing and preparing various reports for the Ballet and associated entities. Acts as liaison for assigned departments for purposes of reviewing operating results and monitoring budget and forecasts. Create and maintain the integrity of financial reports and the related software; expand the use of data and financial reporting across all departments. Prepare and maintain company-wide periodic cash flow, budgeting and survey reporting. Compile financial elements of government grant applications, annual tax returns and quarterly commodity taxes. Assist in the preparation of the year-end audit process and related matters. Assist CFO in compiling presentation materials for Board of Directors and its various committees as required. Serve as “back-up” for finance team colleagues, including GL, payroll, financial reporting maintenance and account reconciliations.
Qualifications:
- Accounting designation or enrolled in a CPA program with 3 to 5 years of general accounting experience, in the performing arts or a not-for-profit sector an asset. Proficiency in mid-sized accounting systems (Business Dynamics - SL) is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Tessitura (box office ticketing/fundraising CRM system) and dashboard reporting software are considered assets. Must be analytical, detail oriented and organized. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Working Conditions:
Standard office hours are Monday to Friday. Administrative staff are currently working in a hybrid model of office (3x/week) and remote work (2x/week), subject to change.
