The organization is committed to a strategy of investing in exceptional talent at the senior level, with the goal of fully integrating strategic, financial, operational, and programmatic planning. The new Deputy Director & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key strategic business partner for issues related to finance and will have a seat at the table in setting the overall strategic direction of the institution.

Reporting to the Director and Chief Executive Officer, the Deputy Director & Chief Financial Officer will provide strategic leadership for the ROM’s comprehensive financial management and will collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to support the overall mission of the ROM. The CFO will oversee the full range of finance, accounting, payroll, and procurement functions to ensure the integrity of financial information and the financial planning that are supported.

The ideal candidate will be a broadly skilled, senior, sophisticated finance leader with experience in a for-profit, non-profit or public sector environment, ideally with a solid understanding of government. The role will appeal to an accomplished professional who appreciates the importance of museums as a resource for Ontarians, as a connector to people’s passions, and as a vehicle for community engagement. You will bring both vision and execution skills, be com­fortable rolling up your sleeves to get things done, have change management experience, act as a coach and mentor for the team, and be inspired by an ever-changing and evolving work environment and the unique assets of the ROM’s collections and expertise. You will have an education appropriate to the position, with excellent accountancy/finance qualifications, and a minimum of 15 years’ experience at an executive level.
