Bring Your Reporting and Analysis Skills to Our Finance Team
CPA Ontario is currently in search of a Senior Financial Analyst, a unique role that will focus reporting and analysis on our biggest asset, our People, while also analyzing, having oversight and reporting of our transformational initiatives. In this role you will support our leaders, both finance and human resources with reporting and analytics, trending data, and status updates for strategic initiatives that are changing the operations of CPA Ontario. As a key member of the FP&A team, you will also maintain and support a variety of existing reports, collaborate with the team on monthly and quarterly reporting, in addition to annual planning and forecasting related people costs and strategic expenditures.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Developing and reporting on organizational people costs by category and by business unit with insightful analysis that supports people-related decision making. Providing monthly analysis of people costs to leadership, detailing variances from plan, forecast and historical results, trends, and metrics.
Coordinating and managing the budget and forecast process for people costs including analysis of data, assessing and validating assumptions and identifying risks and opportunities.
Collaborating with leaders to understand and translate strategic initiatives and establish and track progress on projects, key performance indicators, and scorecard measures for the organization overall and various departments as required.
Preparing presentations for quarterly financial reporting packages, budgets and forecasts, supported by very detailed complex census files, data sheets and collaborative templates.
Supporting future system changes that integrate HRIS and finance reporting systems for effective sharing of people data included in current reporting and future forecasting and modelling, maintaining data integrity, up-to-date assumptions and researching and resolving any issues or complex problems ensuring system optimization.
Supporting the review and approval of people costs, tracking and accruing project costs and third party contracting, and preparing reconciliations as necessary.
Who You Are:
A post-secondary graduate preferably in human resources or finance, with a minimum 3 years of progressive experience in analyst roles, and a deep understanding of HR reporting and analysis.
Enrolled in or in the process of completing the CPA certification program; a completed CPA designation and current member in good standing is strongly preferred.
Experienced with both HRIS and Finance ERP systems and can navigate required data and reporting of data contained in both systems and future integrations.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams with advanced Microsoft Excel functions and data manipulation techniques, including but not limited to, vlookups, pivot tables, arrays, formulas, and macros.
Able to demonstrate superior analytical skills with excellent attention to accuracy and detail while working with ambiguity in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with last-minute changes in plans.
Experienced at extracting data, creating queries, developing complex reports and providing detailed analysis.
Able to work independently while appreciating the value of working as part a team and collaborating with others across multiple departments.
